'We weren’t going to leave them there, so we took matters into our own hands': Hikers rescue starving sibling pups and help transform them into thriving doggos with heartwarming monthly updates

From peanut butter to pure love, Pete and Butter's tail began on a trail, but not the kind you'd expect! These two scruffy siblings were spotted hungry, covered in fleas, and alone in Cumberland Falls, KY. But their luck changed faster than a wagging tail when two hikers took one look (and one jar of peanut butter) and decided not today, fleas.

Named for their snack of choice, Pete and Butter were lured in with kindness (and kibble) after spending the night huddled under a rock. The rescue mission wasn't all sunshine and belly rubs. We're talking a mile-long hike up 1,000 feet of elevation carrying kennels, two sick pups, and the emotional weight of don't poop now.

Since then, these once-ruff puppies have blossomed into playful, goofy giants. Even though their rescuers live two hours apart, they make monthly pupdates a priority so the siblings can reunite for joyful romps and pawsitive mischief.

It's safe to say Pete and Butter aren't just good boys and girls, they're pawsitively family.
